Can cooling explain why ‘miracle’ baby survived?A premature baby - who was declared dead shortly after birth - was later discovered to be alive after spending 10 hours in a morgue refrigerator. How did this happen? Doctors at the Perrando Hospital in northeast Argentina can’t explain how several doctors pronounced the child dead or how the premature infant born three months early survived for so many hours inside a chilly coffin. The baby, Luz Milagros Veron, was reported Friday in "very serious" condition after doctors detected an infection. A similar case occurred in Israel in 2008. A baby was found alive in a morgue refrigerator after having been declared dead for five hours, according to the Jerusalem Post. An Israeli doctor suggested the premature infant's irregular heartbeat could've eluded doctors and that placing the child in the cooler kept her in "suspended animation." The baby later died. In a case last year, a 60-year-old man woke up in a South African morgue after 21 hours. Could the cold temperature help people in these circumstances survive? After all, the practice of lowering a patient’s body temperature - called therapeutic hypothermia - helps heart attack patients and infants survive. “We do know cooling tends to slow the vitals,” said Dr. Marita D'Netto, a neonatologist at the Cleveland Clinic. “It helps to protect the brain and has been used in cardiac patients and babies.” For decades, evidence showed that therapeutic hypothermia can improve the odds of heart patients. No one quite knows why, but it's thought that the cold reduces the body's need for oxygen and slows the deadly chemical cascade that sets in when oxygen isn't circulating because the heart stopped beating. The cooling can reduce the amount of oxygen needed, and slow the heart rate and basal metabolic rate. “One of the hypothesis is that you could slow down the programmed cell death and reinstitute the oxygen and glucose,” said Dr. Jim Greenberg, co-director of the Perinatal Institute at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. The therapy for babies are for those who have hypoxic–ischemic encephalopathy, in which they suffer a lack of oxygen and blood supply to the brain. But this practice is not used in very tiny premature babies, D’Netto said. Luz was born three months premature and weighed a mere 1 pound and 12 ounces. In this therapy, the babies’ temperatures are lowered by using a cooling blanket for three days in a controlled environment. The cooling can help babies preserve brain function as their body temperatures lower from 98.6 degrees to 92 degrees Fahrenheit. A morgue refrigerator would be far colder, around 40 degrees, said Greenberg. A baby of Luz's size would most likely not survive 10 hours inside frigid temperatures. Greenburg has seen cases of newborns birthed into toilets or cold environments who have survived - although they were exposed for hours and came to the hospital with body temperatures in the 80s. About Luz’s case, Greenburg said, “Presumably, the whole physiology is tough to understand. There is nothing about description of the baby’s existence that can explain survival, based on current understanding of cellular physiology.” CNN readers asserted that Luz’s survival can only be explained as a miracle. “Why is it so hard for so many of us to 'believe" in miracles ... just look at the stars on a clear night ... millions of them zillions of miles away!! We are part of this miraculous universe! The cells in our bodies, miracles ... we don't always have to have an explanation,” wrote a commenter named JW8686. Another commenter - Coriolana Magna - disagreed. “It's not a miracle at all - it's science and the doctors' incredible incompetence," Magna wrote. "She's a lucky child [that] she wasn't buried alive by these so-called 'healers!’” |

Glad this little one is alive. Truly a medical wonder!
It's not a "medical miracle." As was stated by another commentator, this is medical malpractice.
This is a miracle from God. Science is from God. He trys to show you how good he is, but so many people just step on his Miracles. It may be a medical melpratice, but God work his miracle threw the mistake that the doctor made. he also showed doctors that they need to pay more attention to babys.
Yep, malpractice. This same thing happens here in the States more than you'll ever hear about.
So when a harlequin baby is born is that a miracle from your god too?
If you give him the glory you have to give him the failures too.
It was not a miracle. This happened quite frequently prior to advancements in medicine.
The baby simply was not dead, that is all.
Yes, it is good the baby survived. But it would be highly traumatizing for an infant to be alone for 10 hours in a morgue refrigerator. The effects of this may be carried throughout this child's life.
God or religion has nothing to do with it, many physical processes are still outside the our understanding and through the correct amount of research we can tap into these natural processes to save more lives.
Next time your life is saved in a hospital, thank a doctor, not god.
WOW! That is truly a blessing! That child really dose have a purpose in this life!
Every child has a purpose in life
And all the other children that die, often painfully... they just don't have a purpose in life?
@Jonathan: Sorry. This may sound wrong, but when someone is dead they don't have a purpose in life. When they are alive, they do have a purpose (even if that purpose is just not dying)
@Johnathan yes and they have lived it. All creatures have a purpose from the moment they come into existence right to the moment of their death they are living it out. Even the very youngest. Death is sad, but just because it exists doesn't mean there is no purpose. Perhaps when a child dies they get to live in a place free of pain, perhaps their energy is taken up by other creatures and recycled into the world... Perhaps it is both... as I believe... But death does not answer the question of whether or not there is a purpose, only that of how long a creature will live and what it will do in its lifetime.
Sometimes wonder why so many people are so quick to say something is a miracle when there is usually an rational scientific answer for what happens.
Sometimes wonder why so many people are so quick to say something isn't a miracle if there is a rational scientific answer for what happened. Where does it say that science and religion are two separate things? I know science is science and I believe God made it that way on purpose. He's not a wizard.
Did you read the article? The doctors can't explain why she lived. "A baby of Luz's size would most likely not survive 10 hours inside frigid temperatures." The tempeature was 40 degrees. Tell me what scientific principle would allow for a 1 lb baby to survive 40 degrees for 10 hours.......
Welcome to the real world buddy...
But you're basically saying he is a Wizard. And just like a wizard, he's not real.
A personal God and a theistic God are very different things. When you say the BIble was infallable and a straight dictation of human history up to the creation, you're a moron. Even Carl Sagan believed in a God, and because he believed so strongly he tried to clear the swirl of disinformation and misinformation around it. And when he did he realized that only a personal god could exist.
I'm just saying for all you know, we're the piece of a broken goblet that a species greater than we'll understand dropped and when it cracked it created our universe.
I forgot to add, Science and religion are two very opposite ends of a spectrum.
There is so little in the Bible that is backed by Science. The fact that places exist are meaningless.
Science requires that the information be falsifiable and empirical. Religion merely requires 'faith'. So if I say something this is outrageously untrue. Science can disprove me. Religion can choose to have 'faith' that my outrageously untrue thing is actually the complete and utter truth. Where as science would never buckle to such an observation.
For one thing, she was in a wooden coffin, which is a great insulator, so inside the coffin, it was probably not 40 degrees for 10 hours....
People don't know how to handle "we don't know". We don't know means let's figure this out, it's not a reason to throw up your hands and claim a miracle.
Science based medicine doesn't know everything. That doesn't mean anything is unknowable or unexplainable. If we knew everything science would stop, the whole point of science is to figure stuff out.
@Mariel was about to say the same thing 😉 I too believe science and religion are connected. You should read some of CS Lewis's works if you haven't yet, among others
Let that family be blessed! Thank the lord! Miracles do happen and so lets give credit where credit is due!
What about the stories without a happy ending? Where is "the lord" then? This article explained how the "miracle" happened. No supernatural here.
Do you also give your god credit when babies are born with their organs on the outside of their bodies?
Has it occurred to anyone that this is just another example of evolution at work? Human babies that can survive extreme temperatures will be more likely to pass on their more resilient genetics whereas babies who don't make the cut won't have the chance to pass on their weaker genetics.
Science itself is full of God's miracles. I don't have to understand exactly why this baby lived in order to celebrate her life and rejoice for the family.
Science is not filled with miracles. Science is fact based. Miracles are faith based. Faith is as far from science, information that is falsifiable and is based on empiracle study, as you can possibly get.
Get over your false gods and embrace the closest thing to god possible, human beings.
It was a miracle that God did.
Which god?
Zeus? Mithra? Ra? Mercury?
Can't be Zues. He was too busy turning himself into a rain cloud and raping people, while his wife chases him (and screwing with his victims)
Can't be Oden. He just doesn't give a shyt.
Can't be the Jade Emperor. Wrong continent...
Can't be Ra. Because who the heck has heard of Ra?
Can't be The Flying Spagatti Space Monster, because his noodlely appendages just tasted too damn good.
So it must be either Jesus, Yahwe or Allah. Now, I'm guessing that it's now the Jewish god, because he just doesn't work like that. If he did, the 40's wouldn't have happened. Can't be Allah...wait...uhm...ok, perhaps it was Allah. I, ahem, don' want anyone blowing me up. Can't be Jesus...wait...uhm...ok, perhaps it was Jesus. I, don't want anyone shooting me.
So it was definately either Allah or Jesus. Take your pick.
truly a miracle of god
neverybody is forgetting the true meaning easter that's why this miracles happen
Jesus was pronounced dead, frozen, and was found alive after a few hours? Wow, that explains alot.
Everyone saying that this is a mircale of god is crazy ... this is obivoulsy the son of god!!
Son of God? Sorry, His name was Jesus and he already etched himself in the history books. The Father said of Jesus "this is my beloved Son. In Him I am well pleased" Unless you mean the fact that God gives us the right to be heirs, adopted into his family, through faith in His Son Jesus Christ. Then yes, you and I both can be made sons of the True God of the Bible.
The Seals
1
And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.
2
And I saw, and behold a white horse: Zech. 1.8 ; 6.3 and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.
3
¶ And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see.
4
And there went out another horse that was red: Zech. 1.8 ; 6.2 and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.
5
¶ And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; Zech. 6.2, 6 and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.
6
And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.
7
¶ And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see.
8
And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth. Jer. 15.3 · Ezek. 5.12, 17 ; 14.21
9
¶ And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:
10
and they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
11
And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellow servants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.
12
¶ And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; Rev. 11.13 ; 16.18 and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;
13
and the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, Is. 13.10 · Ezek. 32.7 · Joel 2.31 · Mt. 24.29 · Mk. 13.24, 25 · Lk. 21.25 even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
14
And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; Is. 34.4 and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. Rev. 16.20
15
And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; Is. 2.10
16
and said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us Hos. 10.8 · Lk. 23.30 from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
17
for the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand? Joel 2.11 · Mal. 3.2
For all of you proclaiming a miracle, did you not read the part where the baby still died anyway?
I read that part. And this baby might not make it either, but that doesn't mean that these discoveries of these babies don't qualify as miracles. At least the other baby likey felt it's parents' tender touch once more before passing.
Did you not read the part where it says it was a different baby that died?
Yes Grim, they gave an example of a similar case in a different nation and sadly that baby did end up dying...they aren't talking about the same baby here. This one is still alive. Praise the Good Lord for that!
"Praise the Good Lord for that!"
and condemn him for killing the other one after raising false hopes.
Cedar Rapids..your words not mine.
Resistancia,Argentina is the reason for Luz's resistance to burial while breathing.
Absolutely a miracle! The parents had to go to the morgue at just the right time and open the coffin at just the right time in order for the baby to have been found alive. That little baby is a fighter and hopefully she will make it. I believe that God has a plan for her. He really has a plan for all of us. It is hard to reconcile while this baby would make it when others don't. So many sad and terrible things happen as a result of wickedness and carelessness and sometimes just the fragility of the human body. We'll never fully understand the "why" of everything. There is a lot of truth in science, but you will not be able to find a scientific answer for everything no matter how hard you try (and you're wasting a lot to time thinking instead of enjoying good things for what they are). Let's rejoice for this miracle!
Amen it is a miracle. I think its truly awful how people try SO hard to spoil good news of anything by throwing out all the bad things they can think of. Its like instead of seeing a blooming flower they look around and try with all their might to find a diseased plant...what sense is there in that? It just doesn't take away the beauty of that one flower.
"Absolutely a miracle! The parents had to go to the morgue at just the right time and open the coffin at just the right time in order for the baby to have been found alive."
not really, the baby would have been alive at any point they opened the coffin. In fact you could claim it was the wrong time as the kid was there for hours, the right time would have been right away.
If god takes credit for this he also takes credit for the 2,523 babies that die each year from sudden infant death syndrome.
It takes a true non-believer to look at a situation like this and not see the beauty and hope in it. It's very sad about the babies that die from SIDS, but that doesn't mean that there isn't a God.
I didnt say there was not a god... just implied that it likes killing babies more than saving them.
I disagree because more babies make it then don't. But I do agree that it can be hard to reconcile all of it at times. The human experience is challenging. We are such sensitive and intelligent creatures, but we live in a world that is at times raw and painful.
"reconcile" this is how "gods" have gone from nature spirits, to polytheistic personified beings, to a monotheistic creator, to a weak handed creationist. All of this to appease man kinds ego and fear of death.
That's what a lot of famous philosophers would have you think. But I think that conclusion just says a lot about the philosophers themselves. Not all people have a strong ego or fear death. I accept that I won't be able to reconcile things fully because the world is too just complex fully grasp, on all levels, all of the time. But I see the beauty and meaning in life and that's why I believe in God. Not because I am afraid of anything.
It takes a true delusional to look at a situation like this, or anything like it, and decided it must be a miracle. Most of the time, you probably just aren't capable of understanding the science, logic behind the "miracle", but the rest of the time, you are choosing to ignore it.
If God is the God of life, he is also the God of death and pain. If he gets the miracles, then he also gets the plane crashes, volcanoes, tsunamis, hurricanes, and debilitating illness, etc. He has to own it.
It might be less rude to just say that he doesn't particularly care what happens to this baby or anybody else; this is a case of medical malpractice that (so far) has not ended in tragedy.
God takes the credit for the miracle...but Adam takes the credit for everything else...including the 2,523 babies that die every year from SIDS..we live in a dying world.
When I read this story I came to the conclusion that Jesus kept her alive. This is God's miracle.
Prove it.
You can't.
Grow up.
Prove what? Grow up? Prove that you have mitochondria in your cells... you can't? Oh, you mean you will show me someone's article or pictures or posted opinions to prove you have mitochondria in your cells... exactly. I think what you meant was not 'prove it' but rather 'Prove Jesus is real.' Because if that was proven to you, you would have no problem believing He kept the baby alive. So – direct your question to the only one who can answer it: Jesus. Prove yourself Jesus! That is a question He LOVES to answer... be ready.
How do you know it wasn't Allah? Prove it was Jesus and not Allah.
Read the Bible, there you will find the answer!!!
Could you just quote for me the passage which proves that Allah didn't provide the miracle? As in, proves it. Not just says that your god is the only real god.
I have nothing to prove. The proof is that the baby is alive, and I have nothing to discuss with you about my faith.
It's a miracle!
god does not kill anyone we are killing each other
Yeah, Cancer and disease is our fault for not giving enough money to the church obviously.
Your God is a masochist and is evil. You worship a false idea and that makes you weak.
except for well the the whole planet during the flood, sodom and gomorrah, the list goes on for a while........
"we kill each other"
Guess you missed that part in your bible where your god commands the slaughter of women and children.
Cancer cells are god's bullets.
Stop shooting us!
How come stories like this always bring out the Jesus freaks?
The same thing probably happens every day and the victim freezes to death. Where was Jesus then?
This was pure chance, not divine intervention.
Move along people.
Deep down 99% of christians have serious doubts. If they didn't funerals would look like carnivals and not have a bunch of people crying.
I hope that both of you find the answers you're looking for in life someday. I'll be praying for you. Peace.
They have more real answers than you will ever have, because they believe in science, logic and rational thinking. There are plenty of real answers out there, for those who choose to question, or for those who can understand the hard answers...
The faithful in Science also have alot of doubts...especially since it keeps changing the answers on so many things. Personally I think science is great, but imperfect like religion because humans beings are imperfect and both are expressed through imperfect human beings. I think its a miracle that God gave us the knowledge to invent life saving medication and equipment actually. Every time a life is saved, it is a miracle. People though want to take all the credit for being so smart...but when the medication and equipment fail...when science fails, then what do they say? Or when the medication actually kills or harms instead...what do they say? As for those bashing God as evil...be reminded human beings along with science have slaughtered countless human beings in this world. The kettle really can't be calling the pot black on this topic. Its pretty tough to try to judge God when we continue killing our own everyday. What is so horrible about being happy this baby is alive and WAS found in time? You don't have to agree its a miracle or God did it...just be happy about it.
The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:
2
who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.
3
Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
That baby responded to its mother, probably not to the medical staff. Did they try giving the infant to its mother after it was born ? Sometimes, laying a non-responsive infant on the mothers chest can bring it around....?
That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Let's lay a non-responsive baby on mom and NOT try and resuscitate it.... stupid
Why do we consume our time with arguments like these? What does it matter if this baby surviving is a miracle of God or because of something that can be explained by science? There are many things that we as humans cannot understand. Not any of us. How can anyone be sure of the existence of God or be sure that their logic and way of thinking are correct? We all have to have open minds and contemplate the possibility of anything because the laws of logic and science and physics among other things may not be the same everywhere in the universe.
If this child had been beaten to death by some monster, you would not blame your gods. Why credit them when a
child is saved? It makes no sense.
It's really not complicated. I'd give God the credit for creating both people and giving them free will. I'd blame the monster for using his free will to do evil things. Yes, there's suffering on Earth, but it's a short time compared to the eternity that we'll have after we die. Those of us who believe the Bible are grateful that God lived on Earth as a man, Jesus, and he experienced more suffering than any of us to pay the price for our sins.
Anything is more probable than a miracle.
Probable or possible? Anything is possible... but the only thing probable IS a miracle.
I usually don't comment on posts like this but to the people saying "where is your God when [something bad happens]..." God is good all the time...but don't forget the other side of God where the bad does evolve if you allow it. Satan. So, God doesn't do anything bad...we have free will, we are sinners, Satan is just as real and THAT'S where the evil comes in. Not from God. Believe what you want. I'm not going to shove my beliefs down anyone's throat but as much as I believe in Science and facts, I believe in God in Satan. No one's opinion here is better than the next persons.
God created Satan, according to the tale. And as he is all knowing, according to the tale, he then created evil, pain and ruin with complete awareness of it. If you can read the story of Job and still be on the side of the Christian blood god...then you stand in a place I cannot relate to, or even fathom.
In reply to Anna, the story of Job is a story between the creature Satan and the creator God. Satan states that Job only loves God because of the good things that he has given him and wagers that if Job suffers enough, Job will curse God to his face. In the end, 10,000 angels rejoice when Satan loses the bet, Job's love of God endures, and he does not sin against God.
*in God and Satan
Is that a foot on that baby's face?
I am really wondering the same thing. How come nobody is noticing that the baby just has legs on either end. What I try to make into a face it looks more like an elephant. I apologize if this is offensive to some but please help me understand what I am looking at!
Yes it is! It's a miracle. A quadruped baby! God must have something very special in order for this little one. It even has hair, obviously a gift to keep it warm so it could survive it's bout with the freezer
Thats what I was wondering, or is it deformed, poor thing
Obviously the real lesson here is that the Zombie apocolypse is upon us!!!
Best comment yet. 🙂
Malpractice! They gave the mom too much anesthesia and the baby suffered the consequences of the doctor.
I'm just glad that she made it!
Brown adipose tissue is extremely active in newborn infants- It's a special tissue that creates body heat in order to keep a baby alive. All babies are born into a very cold environment (from 98.6 degrees to around 72) and have this tissue to help them survive. I'm sure it had a lot to do with keeping the baby alive in a refrigerator for several hours- babies aren't completely defenseless against the cold.
Is it not a miracle we understand science
Well, we USED to actually live in caves and gave birth out in the elements. Hell, you don't even have to go back that far – just go back to the time of the Pilgrims, or American Indians for that matter. You think they had hospitals and gynecologists and prenatal care and checkups??? NO! It's the damn stupid doctors now-a-days that scare the crap out of you if you don't do as they say and have your checkups, and pay ridiculous amounts of money into the health care system for NOTHING! Humans and babies are pretty tough, and got this way from thousands of years of evolution. Girls pop babies out all the time in bathroom stalls, hiding it from their parents, and the baby is just fine. SCREW those doctors! They don't know CRAP! A big waste of money. Now-a-days people take their kids to the doctor every time they get a freaking sniffle. JUST LIKE THE DOCTOR WANTS YOU TOO. No wonder healthcare is crazy expensive.....
People...God is just and fair. He understands that you would not want someone making your decisions for you, so he gave you free will. He gave you the option to choose between good and evil, but there are these things called consequences. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life." "All things happen to the good of those who love God. to those that are called according to His purpose." These babies dying are consequences...these babies living are miracles. "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." If God gave us what we deserved, no babies would survive. Thank you.
P.S. I'm 13 yrs. old. and believe that all things happen for a reason and although people try understand why, they can't because God is uncomprehendable by a human. Jesus felt your pain. He wept when he found that Lazarus died. He understands the pain of death. Read the Bible with an understanding. If you have any questions, go ask a local priest...there is an answer. Maybe there isn't because it is another thing that humans are trying to comprehend but can't...becuase they're human.
Good for you AD. 13 years old and speaking your mind. It's crazy how some people get ridiculed just for giving their opinion. I agree that this is a miracle and am happy the baby is alive and that GOD created science:)
The ignorance on this forum.....can't take any more....someone find me a freezer QUICK...
Could someone help me identify what it is I am looking at in this picture. It looks to have hairy feet from both ends.
It sure does! Actually, the baby's lying on her left side and facing the camera; her left arm is streched out towards the camera and has tape/tubing on her hand. On the left of the picture, her hands are curled up in front of her face. Her legs are to the right.
*lying on her right side
Use this rare opportunity to know the unknown in medical science. A humbling feeling, so much is unknown but do exsist.
it is truly a miracle this baby is alive .I think that you all should stop dissing God and be grateful for everything he does for you .God doesn't love this baby more than others, he loves everybody and thing equally. everything happens for a purpose and he knows what he's doing.
Paramedics have an expression regarding hypothermia's ability to preserve brain function: we say the patient's not dead until he's warm and dead, but this is extreme. I hope this miracle baby has a long and happy life!
Science is the little amount of stuff man figured out for himself with so many holes in it it may as well be air....it will serve us well to remember Man is a creation of God so Man cannot know all of himself but needs sometimes to defer to the Creator and just give God praise for all things in the universe we will never understand.
God gave life here to demonstrate Man's wisdom is but foolishness and no amount of commentary or speculation can change that, whatever whachyumaecallit you spin.
These things usually happen in 'Brand X' countries.
Why is it that people get SO upset when God is mentioned about anything. He created the heavens and earth and every living thing, maybe there is a reason this little baby lived even though she is very fragile. I pray she does make a full recovery. Makes you wonder how many times this happens......
Regarding the 60yo who woke up in a morgue, There Can Be Only One!
Typical of ignorant masses to credit an invisible sky friend with something that can be explained. Do you believe in fairies and pixie dust, too?
I believe the article is posing the question that perhaps cooling the premature baby may enable the baby to stay alive. Usually premature babies are put in a warming environment. I hope this baby gets a lot of holding and cuddling and loving, because it sure went through sensory deprivation for it's first 12 hours. Amazing, but this happens more often than it should. Therefore, why does cooling a premature infant lead to it still being alive? Medical science, try to benefit from this!
It was not a miracle. It was refrigeration, a type of engineering, a branch of **SCIENCE**.
There is nothing but science. There are no miracles. There is only the correct use of physical principles and scientific results.
There are no mysteries. There are only results and facts which have yet to be measured and observed.
Get rid of religion.
My daughter was born 3 months early at 1lb 12 oz. She's now 11 months and fine. I am praying for this family, that they will be able to watch their daughter grow stronger each day.
Maybe it's the rebirth of Jesus or Satan
Well, if the cold temperature prevents meat from rotting, it seems very possible that it could do the same for someone's brain or heart.
Please don't twist this that the 40 degree chiller helped this infant survive...nonsense. This infant survived DESPITE the chiller, and despite the incompetent doctors who declared her "Dead."
