When will we see a herpes cure?As a feature of CNNhealth.com, our team of expert doctors will answer readers' questions. Here's a question for Dr. Gupta. From Lloyd Bartley, Bowling Green, Kentucky “How close are scientists to developing a cure for herpes, figuratively speaking will we be seeing a break through in 10, 20, or even 30 years?” Answer: Well, Lloyd, there is good news and bad news on the herpes front. The good news: Researchers have made serious strides and now better understand the mechanism behind herpes outbreaks. The bad news: There is very little funding for that research. After receiving your question we reached out to a leading herpes expert, Bryan Cullen, the director at the Center for Virology at Duke University. Cullen is hopeful that a cure for herpes could come within 10 years, once funding hurdles are crossed. Nearly one in five people over age 12 in the U.S. is affected by herpes. It is caused by a virus - either the herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) or the herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2). Both strains can cause genital herpes, but HSV-1 usually infects the mouth and produces cold sores. Despite funding challenges, Cullen and his team are inching closer to a cure. They conducted a study recently that identified the pathway herpes takes as it infects. They now know how herpes embeds itself into the cells and how it eludes treatment. Now that they have honed in on the physiology of the disease - and its triggers - researchers believe they are steps closer to creating drugs that could cure herpes. While we wait for a cure, there are drugs out there that can at least suppress herpes. Three antiviral drugs: acyclovir, valacyclovir, and famciclovir are commonly recommended to quell outbreaks. A physician might recommend taking these drugs when an outbreak occurs to quiet symptoms; or taking them continuously to reduce the likelihood of an outbreak. And of course the best way to avoid spreading herpes is to abstain from sex, but if you are sexually active, engage in safe-sex practices such as using condoms. First I'd like to thank you for being a part of an acredited Q&A blog and thanks to CNN for setting it up. I guess my question, like most others, stems from the frustration and anxiety I have with not understanding the delema due to funding. Since being affected by the virus in late January I have vigorously researched all I can within my means and everything turns up the same which is "steps away from a cure but not enough funding". Is this due, in large, to the fact that no one wants to fund a cure since so much more money can be made by keeping the virus in play, forcing us to buy suppressive drug theropy? I hope this question can be genuinly answered.

I contracted genital herpes when I was 18 years old from a young lady similiar in age. She failed to advise me of her misfortune, and due to us having unprotected sex I fell victim to this most horrid disease.
Soon after I was diagnosed, I suggested (demanded) she go and get tested, in which she did. Yet only to come back with 3/5 doctor results pages for ALL tested STD's. I asked and asked to please see the other 2 pages, but the young lady acted as if she had no clue of what I was requesting.
For the first 3-7 years or so I had tried Acyclovir for surpression, in which was covered by my father's medical coverage up until the age of 25. I am now 28, and with having to pay for my own medicine, I've since found alternative routes of treatment such as Tagamet 200mg 4 times a day (purchased OTC at any chain pharmacy for $10) once I start to feel irritation and I continue this method of treatment throughout the irritation (OB) stage.
After reading thru the previous posts, I also have found Lysine, something that I have heard from another alternative medicine source, will definately give this a shot as well.
I'm glad I have stumbled upon this site, giving myself hope and additional strength and piece of mind that a cure is still underway.

I've had herpes for about 7 years. i self diagnosed and when I went into the doctor's office he visually confirmed. The Meds he gave me worked but I really don't believe in medicating just to cure symptoms. We should all be taking the cure!
I am constantly getting muscle pain and skin sensitivity in my hips and legs. I've noticed a big spot right on my tailbone that I now suspect is an outbreak though I thought at first it was a spider bite. I go through phases with just the skin sensitivity w/o sores and phases with just itching and no visable sores. I've discovered that excersizing regularly but not overzealously can help reduce stress which in itself helps to reduce outbreaks. I'm now going to try the Lysine that many of you recommended and I hope it works.
I have had sex and relationships after my discovery. Inform you're partners ALWAYS. trust me there are people out there who understand that this is a disease and transmission can be avoided. None of my partners has contracted the virus and while yes there have been people who've rejected me because of it You need to remember that this does NOT make you less of a person.
I take relationships slower now and am more interested in learning who a person is in addition to what lust I feel when I look at them 🙂 I have every intention of having children. It will take a little more care and planning than those without the virus but there is absolutely no reason I cannot live a full and happy life.
i jus found out i have gh and i dont know how to deal with this i dont know what to do about treating this outbreak that is beginning. please someone respond to my post please what can i get over the counter that has the best results
Get some H-Balm. you can get it at any pharmacy over the counter. There are oils and tablets that are all natural and they help prevent outbreaks and clear up outbreaks.
Why don't everybody get together and donate to a bank to help these research teams find a cure? I sure this can be set-up and done.
I understand that genital herpes is not fatal and some say other diseases deserve priority, but the psychological effects are dehabilitating. I was 17 and the man who gave it to me did it on purpose. He was an older guy who used it to trap me in a relationship, and did the same to three other 16 to 17 year-old girls after me. For 12 years now I've been depressed, drunk, fearful, and almost entirely without sex. I'm a smart, pretty girl, but I couldn't take the risk of rejection and the looks of disgust on a man's face. I've felt like a sexual leper, and to make it worse I must keep it a secret. I can't even tell anyone why they can't get close to me.
I think a direct contributor to this disease is the very stigma attached to it. One is afraid to say something so he/she doesn't. Once again the disease is spread. An effective treatment of this disease is to talk about it freely and maturely, without shame by the one affected and without mocking from the one being told. Some people have big, gross infected toenails, some don't- toenail people still get laid!
What if there were some kind of ettiquette or protocol? On the third date, after dinner but before dessert? Some kind of secret handshake?
Also, I'd like to comment on how many times it's been written "and I wasn't even promiscuous" – as if people who have multiple partners somehow deserve it. That's some outdated thinking A.: that it is immoral for willing adults to participate in sexual activity of their choosing, and B.: that getting GH is a punishment for immoral behavior. Even folks affected by this disease are contributing to its stigma by passing judgement on sexual behavior and implying that certain folks have it coming to them.
I'm getting a little older. More people in my age group have it. More people in my age group are able to talk about it maturely. I've been rejected. Everybody gets rejected, I just didn't go through it as a teenager when I was supposed to because I was devastated by this huge, secret black cloud over my relationships with the opposite sex.
And yes- DONATE! We'll either get a cure for ourselves or a vaccine for our girlfriends and boyfriends.
And yes- KEEP TALKING ABOUT IT TO NEW PARTNERS!
These two things will change the course of what happens to us and future bearers of this condition.
Herpes 2 has a bad name. I don't know if it does or does not deserve the name it gets. I agree with Ann in that it is such a psychological depressant and prevents tons of relationships. Tons. Also, yes, please DONATE. I have read a lot on it. The institutions that appear to be the closest to a cure are Duke University (Google Herpes + Cullen) and the University of Florida (Bloom + Herpes). $10 per person would go a LONG way in making this happen. Professor Cullen indicates that a cure is likely within 10 years once funding hurdles are crossed.

I was diagnosed with GH last year. Since then I haven't dated anyone and have felt my world has been falling apart. I really hope that there is a cure soon so millions of us can stop this physical and psychological torture.

My wife used to get cold sores on her mouth.This was at the beginning of our relationship. I never thought anything of it. We were never intimate during those O/B'. Well fast forward 4 years and our sexual relationship was slowing right down she was not interested in sex at all.. Intimacy was infrequent. I grew tired of no intimacy and eventually broke up. Many months later I had a short term relationship which lasted several months. I broke off that relationship and tried to patch up my wife and I' differences. I was celibate for 6months during this time, my stress levels were thru the roof, it was during this time I felt pain in the groin area which later was diagnosed as GH. I have no idea how I contracted this disease. Had it lay dormant after contracting it from my wife who suffered from hsv 1 or from the relationship after the break up of my marriage. i found out about a year ago when i had a odd pain down there. i am a very clean person and i dont get around.. i have been with the same girl for 2.5 years and she is the one to have passed it on to me, i have been no where else.. i remember the day to the T, when i felt it strange. Went to the doctor and i recieved the news after, the breakout was only one and gone before the doctor could see it. So blood test was my way of finding out.. i must tell you the heart break, i felt terrible when she told me the news.. My heart aches all i can do is cry everytime i think about it, every time i get one which isnt often. I am an emotional wreck becasue of it and i blame myself for trusting. I know not to stress because reading all of this stuff i know its not a good thing..
I have lost alot of love for her. I am so bitter towards her for doing this to me. How can i move on move forward? i wouldnt want to risk passing it. Who would want to be with me? I feel like i am stuck in this relationship and i am so angry at her. I didnt derserve it, i dont want to live with it.. I am embarressed about it... All i can do is scream when it comes.i say it because i only see one.. i have told no one about this. i feel like a caged human.

You are not alone! 1 in 4 americans has genital herpes, so you definately are not the only one. A cure is on the horizon, however, this research is drastically underfunded. It is important that we get people to fund this research as the group who discovered the RNA particles that can take the drug out of latency stage are beginning clinical trials with animals.
I got herpes from a prostitute in las vegas. Trust me what happens in vegas doesn't stay in vegas. After 3 weeks I got my outbreak and was diagnosed. Can not describe the pressure and stress my body and brain went thru. Especially being a married man, having to go home and tell my wife why I was flipping out so much. I had slept around with so many women previously and still did while I was married. That guilty and ashamed feeling words can't explain. My wife stayed with me and told me she loved me no matter what. That made me appreciate life and her much more. I feel as it was a wake up call from God. I am much more grateful for life and my family. I sometimes think what if it would have been something else like a fatal disease? Now I don't sleep around with woman other than my wife. I was a jerk all this time not realizing what I have in life. People do not feel sad, I turned this very negative experience into a positive and have dramitically changed my life around. No longer hanging with "my homies" smoking weed, partying, getting BJs from random chicks, now I stay and have fun with my family like a real man should. Seek Jesus Christ and I guarentee you he will cure you in his own way.
It depends on where you are looking for cures. The last time I was heavy into explaining existing cures for herpes the University of Florida had just cleared 4.7 million dollars and they were looking for more. 4.7 million didn't buy a cure and why would it when herpes has generated more than 4.7 billion in donations in the last three years?
I have been helping people cure herpes without charge for the past three years and it has really upset a lot of people. I have consequently been banned from every medical forum on the subject of herpes or any other disease easily cured.
That is your answer. There will never be a medical cure for herpes no matter how much people donate. Matter of fact the more you donate the less likely there will be a cure.

True Cures is responsible for over 500 herpes diagnosed clients and the only attacks come from forum owners who have lost members and revenue such as the CureZone.
If you would prefer I explain herpes and the cure for herpes here I would be happy to oblige. I must tread lightly because sharing information on cures can easily be censored in the name of spam. Even though True Cures sells no products or has any fees or charges attached to it, the act of promoting cures instead of medicine is often considered spam when the source isn't coming from "mainstream" science or medicine.
I'm sorry so many of you are suffering. You would already be cured if it wasn't for constant censorship of the truth.

Hey i'm 18 years old and i was diagnosed with herpes a week before my birthday, i was 17 when my doctor told me. I couldn't believe it. i didn't want to believe it. i'm not a very sexual active person.but this guy that lives in my neighborhood that i had a crush on forever came over one night and i didn't think anything was going to happen and i'm a very paranoid person. i've only had sex with 2 guys and used condoms both times until this guy came over. we had sex and in my head i was said to myself "i shouldn't be doing this or i shoudl say do you have a condom" but for some reason i didn't speak up. i trusted this boy and we had some history back in the day, and never thought twice about getting an STD. i thought it was a UTI when i went to the doctor.. then i started getting bumps and from than on i got tested and my test for herpes came back positive. this had to be the hardest thing that i have ever had to deal with in my life.. and telling my parents especilly my mom was the hardest thing i've ever had to do. i knew she was ashamed of me and it killed me to tell her. she was so pissed off and was speechless.. i cried for hours , than she finally huged me and said i'm here for you no matter what. but there are times when i tink back and wish i could take it all back and undo my mistake. just one stupid mistake messed up my whole life. none of my friends know because i know for a fact they probably would look at me differently and treat me differently. i'm never going to have that fairytale love, because who is going to be in a relationship with a girl who has herpes? i now feel like i can never have a marriage or children, and thats all iwanted in my life was to have a family and now because of one stupid guy it's all over. i'm going into depression and i honestly don't see a point in living. there is no purpose in my life when i can't make someone happy. i can't be dishonest to people either, especially if i were in a relationship. now i can never have that teenage love again. i feel alone and disgusting. im so ashamed of myself. i'm an idiot i did it to myself, but i never once thought i would be a statistic and have herpes. i pray to god everyday that ther will be a cure so i can have a happy life and have a family some day... oh please i begg that one day there will be a cure.
Cassandra, you are young, take a step back, if you can, and think calmly about your situation. Im older in my 40s and have had HSV1 for a long time. Outbreaks come and go, you take your valtrex and it goes away. I know the OB's are painful, but you will be OK. I know this is depressing and you feel ashamed but you made a mistake. Noone is perfect, forgive yourself. If you take Valtrex daily, you only have a 3% risk of giving it to your sexual partners. I agree that this issue is going to make a difference in your life, both sexually and relationship wise. If anything it will make you have to THINK before you act and be responsible for your actions on part of your own body and the body/health of those you choose to be intimate with. Dont give up on yourself, dont waste your time being negative, focus on ways to deal with this and accept it for what it is. Be thankful that its not life threatening or debilitating. You can still find love, be married, have kids, all that stuff. When you find someone you love, you will have to tell them, its the right thing to do, and if they love you, they will accept you, regardless.
Do you know that people have had jock itch diagnosed as HSV? Honestly, if anyone as a chronic itching OB that does not go away in a few days or a week you need to see a doctor again or at least try using Jock itch over the counter treatments. If the fungicide makes the OB go away you know your rash was misdiagnose as HSV no you just need to explain the positive test and be on the look out for real HSV OBs.

I contracted GH in Nov 09' from a guy that I believe knew he had it, but failed to tell me he did. I was diagnosed in April of this year. My hubby and I were having problems and I stupidily stepped out of the relationship and had an affair. I had an OB about a week after my first sexual encounter with the man I cheated with so I know he gave it to me. I went months and months thinking the sores were something else until I started researching and realized it had to be herpes. Sure enough, it was. I was devestated. The guy that gave it to me turned the other way and pretty much told me that I already had it. I won't go into details but he pretty much threw me under the bus so to speak. I still see him just about every day because unfortunately we live in a small town. I just cannot believe that I got herpes. I kinda look at it as my payback for doing something I shouldn't of done, but he should of been honest with me. Anyways, my husband is so beyond supportive and loves me so much. He must because he forgave me and now we both suspect that he has herepes as well. He said he didn't care if he got it because we were going to be together anyways. I feel the same way. I exercise regularly and eat healthy. And for the most part, your first initial OB is really bad and I never experienced that. I think due to the fact that I exericse and eat right. I haven't started any vitamins but plan on doing so. I just hope there's a cure soon. I experience about 2 OBs a month, but i usually can tell when it's coming on and immediately start my Valtrex. I don't want to spend money on these medicines like Valtrex and further make the pharmaseutical companies more money, but I don't want to suffer either. If I were rich or won the lottery or something, I would soooooooo help with funding. I think there will be a cure within 20 years. If they'r are as close as they say they are, I think it will happen alot sooner. I think about it every day. I have my good days and my bad. But it's never out of my mind. The only time I don't think about the fact that I have herpes is when I'm asleep. I hate that I and so many others have to suffer with this annoying skin condition. I'm just one of the lucky ones that have a wonderful partner that loves me no matter what. I pray to God for a cure every day. Hi, I encourage people to not only think about today, but think about tomorrow. Do you want to see a cure? If you do, then you MUST fund research for a cure. This "skin disease" competes with AIDS, cancer, etc for funds. There are 4 brilliant teams working on cures:

There is a population of over 50 million US citizens with herpes – hsv2. Triple that amount for hsv1. If each person would donate 10 dollars a year we could fund a CURE (not treatment) in a short period of time. You can donate anonymously and still get a tax deduction for your donation. If you are in the 30 percent tax bracket, Uncle Sam will give you 30 cents of every dollar you donate back. Hey, if you donate 10 dollars a year, you'll get 3 back and only cost you 7 dollars. If we all do this, we'll cure this in 5 years or less. Hey, we'll all be 5 years older 5 years from now either way. You want to be cured or still "treating" this 5 years from now?

Has anyone tried drug called MedaVir?
I was diagnosed few months ago and haven't had Ob's thanks to Medavir but I always feel tingling. well that reminds me of the virus every time...and it hurts it sucks to have this disease I know they will find a cure but. I don't know if the big companies are gonna let them coz they make big money in treating herpes...I was shocked to see the price of achlorovir online....I am praying and praying to be free of this Nasty disease i know it will all be history...God help us all
constantia like i said I was diagnosed with the HSV2 in April 2010 had OB and I took achlorovir right after 3 weeks or so i had an other OB on my thigh I ordered Medavir well it was kinda late for my thigh the virus already went back to my nerves i guess then I had a serious OB in June I applied medavir it seems like it don't work bc its like an oil and u don't feel nothing but my sores were gone in 3 days and I haven't had an OB since then. Hope this helps
I've had several thoughts about the reality of having/being given GH, and have come down the to fact that it's noone's fault. While I'm still angry/hurt on most days, the fact of the matter is: Unfortunately sex has been tainted with the reality of [uncureable] STDs. I used to ask "God" why, but for two years I haven't gotten an answer, so I'm not sure if he's there or not what I thought he is/was....
As humans, it is who we are/innate/natural to have/want/need/enjoy sex just other life essentials like food and sleep. The unfortunate fact of the matter is that STDs (especially the ones you can't can't cure) are like a cruel joke/fact of life/part of sex for many of us. I enjoy(ed) sex just as most people do. Some of us aren't promiscuous just like those who are. But unfortunately, people get STDs. And bottom line: it sucks.
I still have my bad days and hate the person who gave it to me sometimes, but all in all, I've come to the realization that I am just one of the unlucky ones and there's nothing I can do about it [and I hate it].
I hate that I/we no longer have the freedom to choose who we want to have sex with or love.
If there is a cure, I hope the people who have it [and likely don't have an uncureable STD] have the compassion to "free" us from the bondage of a life with an uncureable STDs, period. In the meantime, I'm just gonna live (not just exist) the fullest life I can and try to find some peace. Things you can't control, you have to "try" not to worry about (I have trouble following my own advice though), but anyway....

There will be no cure for this disease. While the industry is converging on a vaccine to prevent future persons from contracting it, the likelihood is that those who are infected now will go to their graves with herpes and periodic, uncomfortable and embarrassing outbreaks. Eventually, the treatments that help slow the rate of outbreaks will become less effective as the virus mutates to accommodate a particular treatment or regimen of treatments and, of course, with age comes a generally weakened immune system.
In brief, while within ten years or so, a vaccine to prevent will be developed and introduced to the younger generation – those who have it now will be increasingly debilitated and, as an effective vaccine will be available, the funds for research of a cure or better treatments will diminish.

as much as i understand how this country runs, and how wonderfully rich the farmaceutical companies are, and continue to grow, isn't this part of the medical profession's DUTY to humankind? to alleviate suffering? to CURE diseases? IF US companies won't do it, because that's what suits them, then UK and India are certainly going to surpass them.
And thanks for the wonderful inspirational words to all those who already HAVE the disease... How many do you suppose will commit suicide because they just can't take the suffering anymore? Hell one of my coworkers jumped off a building in january due to depression, and God only knows what else... If there are 50 million people affected now, and that's only HSV2, then 10 years from now you can expect those numbers to double!!
ANd if it was YOU or your daughter/son affected by it, i'm sure you would have quite a different perspective on the subject, and at least push for more research. It's not impossible to cure it, it's just a matter of getting the right people , WHO STILL HAVE SOME CONSCIENCE LEFT AND CARE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE. if you had to live with this disease you wouldn't be speaking with such cool detachment. At least try to show some compassion. IF everyone had your attitude, then this society would be falling apart..

Today I have been diagnosed with HSV1 and 2 , I am Crushed. I went to the doctor because of what i thought was a UTI , I had blood work done for everything. My doctor called me and told me my PAS checking prostate problems was high normal is 4.... I had 12. He told me the UTI often is the cause for high # . I then was told the news regarding herpes. I always have had protected sex, unfortunately I have had unprotected oral sex performed on me. I have no OB but after reading all of these post I realized that before the Burning when I urined and the flow of the urine which was the reason for me to get checked, I have experienced Pain in my hip and a sensitivity on my skin in the buttock area. I have had tingling in that area for a while and the pain in my hips has always occured from time to time I just never payed it to much mind. I am glad I went and got a blood test because Now i am aware of my condition. I know i could have gotten it from the occasional oral sex , but now i dont know if I have had this for a while now. I am a single 43 year male, who one day hopes to settle down again, but Now I dont know if I will be accepted. I am wondering how accurate is the test done , if something else can cause a false reading, should I test again after the UTI is gone. Here you have someone claiming to be a Doctor telling you there will never be a cure and then you have a dozen people holding their hands out for donations telling you that you are basically going to shrivel up and die if you do not donate right now in your emotional state.
The good Doctor is right, medicine will never cure herpes, it is a cash cow or golden goose. It probably generates more money than any other disease when it come to money being donated freely. That is a very reasonable question Anna and I am sorry to answer your question with a question but I will and then elaborate some.
How many millions and millions of donated science and medical research dollars have gone into investigating products that have on more than one occasion seemed to cure diseases only to have the product debunked as placebo? How much time has gone into double and triple blind studies that are so much a part of today's mainstream medical science?
How many thousands of amazing unexplained cures, healings and improvements have these scientist witnessed without giving them a seconds thought or any consideration. How is it science and medicine can spend zillions and zillions of dollars on research and not one penny or one minute on researching the amazing cures generated by placebo products or sugar?
We know there are cures, when will science consider cures as an option and investigate them?

It is the same type of immune response you use to cure a cold without seeing any doctors or using products. You are exactly right about the difference between a treatment and a cure. I don't refer to what I have learned as "True Treatment". I refer to it as "True Cures" because it eliminates the pathogen in its entirety.
The human immune system doesn't care if you believe herpes to be caused by a virus because your subconscious immune system has no use for words or names of pathogens. However it is note worthy that people realize their is no medical test that detects what medicine refers to as a "virus" associated with herpes. Because the pathogen thought to cause herpes Outbreaks cannot be actually seen, it could be any kind of pathogen.
Before someone tries to argue, herpes test detect antibodies, color changes in dyes and occasionally genes but never an actual pathogen. The reason the herpes virus cannot be easily kill by the "immune system" is it hides and bury itself in the nervous system.
So if you strategy is to use alone the human body immune system? then that will not work.
Meaning there is no cure at the moment.

Anna16 Because you use a fabricated fictional excuse for why the immune system cannot kill herpes that comes from a science that either fails to cure herpes or refuses to cure herpes you now assume sores diagnosed as "herpes" can only be a virus even though there is not test for it and you assume the excuse that the proclaimed "virus" is sneaky and more superior than the human immune system. You have clearly missed the point that "cures" are not medical at all. Try to look at it this way, if we didn't have the zillion gillion dollar medical industry and it's medicine would man shrivel up and die? No man wouldn't. We have no evidence that medicated humans are healthier than unmedicated wildlife with. All living organism have a designed immunity.
Cures are not medicine but they are a science. It is a science completely ignored. This is relevant to your concerns because no one has donated a penny to my research and other than myself, there has been no one breaking down what I do. I spent 15 years developing the consistent cure and now I am spending a little time developing the understanding needed for an explanation. People who want to be cured really don't care about the explanation if the cure is obvious. The people who want the explanation usually do not want the cure.
Because mainstream science refuses to investigate the science of cures I do not have any of the "scientific proof" you demand. Because I do not have the backing of science or the media, that is generally enough for you to dismiss cures as fraud. That makes it real easy for science and medicine, as long as they ignore me I can be discredited for lack of documented scientific proof.
I'm a little leery of your offer. I have seen them before. The offers have been made with another agenda other than being cured. Maybe you are a sincere person looking for a cure but maybe you are fishing for information you can use to attack cures so I will be careful. If you have a positive test result that says you have herpes I will work with you. If your truly are not threatened by cures I will know when we meet. Michael, in case I sounded overly defensive above let me make it clear that I am looking for allies, supporters and friends, especially ones who will continue the fight after they are cured.
If it isn't becoming clear, the only tangible thing I can offer you is a cure. There is no way I can know exactly how the cure is produced so at best I can give you examples of similar bodily functions to relate cures to. The cure is a sure thing and I find it somewhat disrespectful when people put the how and why before the actual cure. They do this because they know it cannot be explained, and they use that to discredit the cure just like they have abandoned ever placebo cure. The difference between standard "placebo" and True Cures is True Cures is not guessing, hoping, believing or faith healing, it is tangible factual consistent cures.
If you truly mean what you said, all I can do is help you cure yourself. It will take a few months for IRS approval so that donors can claim tax exemption status on their donations to the organization. There will not be any product advertizing on the site. The origination will have to be totally funded by donations. The main goal for the foundation is to find the most promising cure or one time treatment that stops all replication of the virus so that there is no window of infectivity and get it to the market the fastest. The first focus is on genital HSV-1 and HSV-2 but the founders also hope the finding will work on all Herpes viruses. This organization will also become a strong patient advocacy group that will help not only raise awareness but let the medical community know that enough is enough. Stop treating and start curing.
