42% of nation to be obese by 2030, study predictsAfter years of rising obesity rates in the United States, recent statistics show the rates may have steadied. But that may not be enough, according to a new report released on Monday - it estimates about 42% of the U.S. population will be obese by 2030. The report suggests an additional 30 million Americans will be obese in 18 years. This would cost an additional $549.5 billion on medical expenditures, according to the report in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine. “If you could keep the obesity rates at today’s level, you would save $550 billion,” said Eric Finkelstein, lead author of the report. About 35% of U.S. adults are obese today, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Finkelstein and co-authors estimate that 11% of the population will be severely obese by 2030. Severe obesity is defined as a body mass index over 40 or being roughly 100 pounds overweight. Obese people have shorter life expectancies and greater lifetime medical costs, “suggesting that future healthcare costs may continue to increase even if obesity prevalence levels off,” wrote the authors. “Those individuals have much greater risk of early mortality, diabetes, heart disease,” said Finkelstein. “They’re much, much more expensive and they’re on the rise, partly because 50 years ago, it was really, really hard to weigh that much. You’d have to eat all the time.” But modern convenience has made an abundance of cheap and easy calories available, he added. The authors calculated the future obesity and severe obesity prevalence based on population factors such as gender, age, race, ethnicity, employment data and recent trends. Prior estimates assumed the level of obesity would continue unabated. “We thought those estimates were too high,” said Finkelstein, health economist at Duke Global Health Institute. “A better way would be to look at underlying factors of obesity like fast food prices, price of alcohol, internet access, changing demographics.” They also looked at variables such as the cost of healthy food, grocery prices, the number of fast food restaurants and annual household income. The projections were based on data from a 2008 study of adults. It did not include children - where one out of three is overweight or obese. “We just looked at adults,” said Finkelstein. “The reality is obese kids almost certainly become obese adults. Our estimates may be conservative.” “We’re almost surely wrong in our forecast,” he added. “That’s the thing about forecasts - they are guesses. This is our best guess. The world changes, if new drugs or technology comes out, if the government comes out and makes major changes, lots could happen. If in fact we’re wrong and obesity rates are less, I’d be happy.” Anti-obesity efforts such as recreational facilities, better urban design, work site health promotion, new drugs and technologies could help, wrote the authors. |

I bet you fat Ässes don't want the country to pay for health care..but you're going to need it real soon because of your fat Äss. Don't be a hypocrite. Obama's health care rocks.
Agreed. People need this hard truth.
Conservitards will never admit it, but they know it's true. Most of them are mindless peon workers that get all their information from "conservitard-to-go" websites that give them a prepackaged list of quotes, statistics, and insults to say to liberals. It's true, if you blanked out all the nicknames of right winters you'd think the same person was speaking the entire time.
SAD BUT TRUE
Calories are too dense in the food we eat today, and people give themselves the benefit of the doubt when adding it all up.
For example, the bowl of cereal in the morning, do you know how SMALL 3/4ths cup of cereal actually is? The standard bowl filled with cereal is usually pushing about 1 and a half cup, even more if it is one of those larger plastic bowls.
Then there is fast food, the #1 WORST fast food item has got to be milkshakes. About as much if not more sugar than a soda, and a load of fat from the milk. That's in addition to the burger and the fries. All for under ten dollars. And wait! Remember to eat in the car, you need those calories to fuel that road rage, and when you finally get back home make sure to make a quick snack, because that food was not at all filling in the midst of all that road rage.
It's our rush and eat lifestyle that plays into everything, food is not satisfying when you aren't savoring the food when you are eating it. (Ever notice when are out at a restaurant having a lively conversation with others you find yourself getting full before you could eat all the food you wanted to eat?)
SPOT ON, ADNAN! Btw are you Bosnian?
We shouldn't let obese people vote, that would solve most of our nation's problems.
Not letting obese people vote would keep Republicans out of office permanently. Then the Dems would win and government would support Obese people's health.
5'8 and 188...lost 29bs in 20 weeks
How ?
Measure / weigh what you eat and stay on your target ( 500 cal for 1lb/week, 750 for 1.5)
Use a app on a smartphone or some online tool to help. These are powerful and accurate tools if you are honest with them.
Be honest...at first it will require some effort but eventually you'll be on autopilot.
Drink water with every meal, plenty of it and never eat more that 1/3 daily allowance at once. Remember than after 20 minutes 1 sandwich will make you as full as 2....be patient
Exercise...especially if you want to keep 750 calories a day below your base metabolic rate...you will be able to eat a little more to compensate and if you do it right you will not feel hungry
Set yourself targets and be tough with yourself...
And most of all eat small healthy snacks frequently between meals...it will prevent hunger.
Good job. Keep up the good work!
Lose 14 lbs eating small meals 5 times a day..keep them healthy, mostly salads with high end balsamic and chicken breast or salmon. Cheat 2x a week 2 slices of pizza etc....here is the bad part NO BOOZE (that is the key)
Its not because of poor eating or lack of exercise either. Its because they all have the genetic predisposition to being grossly obese.
Generic reasons are actually pretty rare I think. More to do with the cheap junk that corporations keep making affordable, whereas healthy foods are too expensive.
What seems more reasonable:
Eat less, be active
or
A corporate conspiracy to force you to be fat?
No matter what genetics you have you WILL loose weight if you eat less calories than you burn. No matter what you loose a pound for every 3600 KCals you don't eat. The genetic problem just means that it is hard for you not to eat so much.
So, how did the percentage of genetic obesity get so high in the past 30 years? If its genetic then it should remain the same or decline...unless you are assuming there is something about obesity that makes them more desirable as potential mates. I would love to here this one..
There may be a tiny percentage of people who genuinely will gain weight far more easily than most. But the vast majority of obesity is due to poor food choices and a near total lack of exercise. Stop eating sugar and packaged foods and get an hour of cardio a day and you won't become obese.
Once you get fat, it gets harder. Your body wants to stay fat. Best bet is to not gain the weight in the first place. And please please stop letting your kids get fat. You're setting them up for a lifetime of health problems.
As Harry Truman said: "Some eat to live , some live to eat" Therein lies the problem.
I really hope you're being facetious.
Fat as hell? Start walking, stop eating so much meat and dairy. Don't waste your time counting calories that's a bunch of sh** look at people in Asia, India...
Disgusting. Amazing how a womans size 16 is considered "healthy" by the populations standard. See all the young thin guys with their fat cow muffin top girlfriends? And older men with the stomachs....ugh....that kid in the picture is already a waste of space and a heath care strain. STOP EATING!!!! STOP EATING PROCESSED FOOD!!! You lazy fat people....spend 20 min. and cook yourself a healthy dish. Hey!!!! Pasta is cheap!!!! 1lb for 99 cents....leave out the butter....some salad or a vegetable you disgusting fatbody!! I live on the beach and these spring break kids are SLOPPY!!!! MUFFIN TOPS EVERYWHERE....fake boobs...10x the ass size of their boyfriends!!!! YUK!!! You are gross!!!
Butter is in no way responsible for obesity – stuff like the pasta is what is causing obesity. Please understand metabolic syndrome before opening your ignorant mouth.
Pasta makes you fat genius. And calling a kid a waste of space is really enlightened of you. Id rather have a society of fat people then a bunch of jerks like you. YOUR a waste of space.
if you aren't fat yet can't wait to see you in a few years after all those carbs!
We are all responsible for our weight. If it doesn't go over the tongue it doesn't go to the waistline. the only syndrome most obese people have is mastication syndrome.
Best diet in exactly 4 words: eat less, do situps.
Pasta is maybe not the best diet food. But really even pasta with butter can have you loosing weight if you don't eat to much of it. The Line between gaining and loosing weight is fine. just 500 Kilocalories per day one side or the other and you gain or loose a pound per week.
. It is not just young women and old dudes. Obesity rates are affecting everyone.
Mike, do you have a kid? If you have a school age kid go down to the school and look at what is being served to them day in and day out. There are a large number of kids that get two meals a day from there local schools and most of it is very fattening. Add that to the fact that they cut Physical Ed out in a lot of places. Also look at how many kids are being murdered these days. People are becoming afraid to let the kids play outside. When I was a kid we could play all over the neighborhood as long as we were home by dark. They can't do that anymore. You are very right about the child in the photo. She is set up for a very hard life.
There is no way this study is accurate. There's a 90% chance this study is wrong
Gee, I bet this has NOTHING to do with the massive amounts of corn syrup in practically EVERYTHING we buy in processed food.
Yeah, I'm sure the big agra companies have nothing to do with that...nothing at all...
Twice I've tried to comment and it hasn't gone through. Are comments closed?
Apparently corporations want people fat because they keep producing cheap junk food that people get addicted to. I think the corporations that sell the junk should have to contribute to universal health care costs.
Well, I'm 5'5" and weigh 126 pounds. So i will remain in the other 58% that maintain a healthy weight. Just wish they had special shopping times at the supermarket for all you hippos hogging the aisles. Noticeapbly you load up on all the carbs like cookies, candy chips ice cream and cake. No wonder you're so morbidly obese. I won't have ice cream more than once a month, cake only on my birthday, never chips or candy. Als unlike all you beached whales, i exercise 3 or 4 hours daily. If I sound insulting, no apology. Just that I find if someone gets angry enough, they might o something to change themself.
If you exercise 3-4 hours daily, I"m sure you have no other responsibilites in life except yourself. People with families, people who are caretakers of aging parents, people who work two jobs just to make ends meet–get a clue about reality for most hard-working people. Calling people names like "beached whales" is something you should grow out of by junior high–the truth is most people become overweight graduatlly over time, 100 extra calories a day, as metabolism slows with age and muscle mass is lost (1% a year after age 30). Age, sleep-deprivation, and desk jobs (having to sit all day) are the biggest contributors to being overweight.
You should probably spend less time exercising and more time learning proper spelling and punctuation. Your comment was so riddled with grammatical errors it was hard to read. Additionally, if you have all the extra time you say you do to exercise (must be nice to not have any responsibilities!) perhaps you can figure out a time to shop where you're the only one in the store, so you don't find it neccessary to write derrogatory comments on a CNN forum.
You should apologize for all the time you waste at the gym. Life is passing you by, suga. Spending it in some smelly gym so your butt cheeks look nice is a crying shame.
These people are breeding and ruining our country. They are getting paid for every fat kid they produce. Maybe we should pay those smart enough to not reproduce. On a vacation to Europe I saw very little of this, mostly people who cared about the way they looked and dressed, not people in sweatpants scratching their a$$ with one hand and eating a big mac with the other. Guess all the complaining here has rubbed off on me, as long as the religion doesn't i'll br fine!
Okay, comments aren't closed. So I'll try for a third time to get my comment up there. Einstein said "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results." That's what this is. People have been told over and over to eat less, move more, eat your healthywholegrains and don't eat too much fat. This is what people are doing, but clearly it's not working–and not because fat people are lazy gluttons. They don't want to be fat and most would do whatever it takes not to be. We need to change the paradigm back to what it was when our grandparents were alive. They knew that it wasn't fat that makes us fat. It's sugars and starches, including from grains. When people are told to cut back on those–the French fries, big gulp sodas, big buns, and so on, we have a chance of stemming the tide. Not until then.
No Peggy, people aren't doing that. Eating better, eating less, and exercising work. Drinking processed juice/sports drinks, five minutes on the elliptical, then rewarding yourself with dessert is not working.
Us Canadians are going to have an easy time when we take Faterica over for the glorious Canadian Empire. But first Iceland!
Oh please, Canadians aren't very far behind on the fat charts.
poutine anyone?
Epic Meal time?
School lunches need to take out most of the carbs and there needs to be PE everyday. At least that would be a start. The fact is the more uneducated and poor someone is, the more likely they are to be fat. The kids need to be taught how to eat right and exercise.
Fat in foods used to be the excuse/reason. "Don't eat meat!" Now it's carbs. In ten years water will be the 'reason.'
Eat whatever you wish, but eat less of it. You don't have to eat a quart of ice cream, a whole fried chicken, an entire bag of potato chips or three plates of spaghetti.
Have butter, cookies, pasta, chicken fried steak, baked potatoes with sour cream or whatever. You don't have to eat like a rabbit. but you shouldn't eat like a bear.
And when society cut fat, we got fatter. Common sense, processed foods are bad. I'm not saying never have pasta or bread but limit it. It works. Unfortunately processed carbs are cheap.
In my neighborhood you will not find one child outside playing, riding bikes, jumping rope, playing tag, etc... Most, if not all of them, are indoors playing video games or watching TV. Who's to blame? Mom and Dad. When I was a kid, my Father would turn the TV off and make my siblings and I go outside and play. Parents with obese kids should do the same.
Right, and skinny kids can play video games all day. Really, if kids were not so tired from all the carbs – blood sugar up – insullin – blood sugar down, they would want to jump around and play active like we did as kids. We are not fueling ourselves the right way. Cut the carbs (specifically grains, sugars and most starches) and your body adjusts back to it's most efficient mode – fat-burning. Then energy is consistent and a person wants to move. *But,* if we blame video games we still get to feed our kids all the easy processed crap.
Heidi – obviously you're either a lonely nutjob who replies to EVERYBODY'S post or a simple-minded troll – which is it? INACTIVITY LEADS TO OBESITY. Got it bonehead?
Remember when you had to go to the circus freak show to see a fat lady? Welcome to America.
Lol...
The good news is obese people die very young. The bad news is the rest of us end up paying for their obesity related illnesses through our insurance premiums.
The problem is the USDA is telling people to eat the wrong things. The same government that is subsidizing grains is telling us they are heart healthy. It's wrong, and we're all paying. Not only do grains drive up blood sugar in a similar way as pure sugar does, but they are addictive. If you eat grains you do not eat healthily. If you eat all the modern vegetable and seed oils that are unstable and cause inflammation in your body, you do not eat healthily.
People have been following the advice to eat less fat, eat more healthywholegrains, eat vegetable oil instead of the fats nature intended us to eat, eat less, move more for 4 decades, all the while getting fatter. All you people who are saying nasty things about fat people should think for just one minute. Do you really think anyone would be fat if he/she knew how not to be? I was never obese, but I have been fat. Eating less and moving more did not change a thing. Following the government dietary guidelines is what made me fat and kept me fat. Cutting way back on sugars and starches–without changing how much I exercise–is what took the pounds and inches off.
The aliens are fattening us up. But, seriously, folks, stop blaming food – portion control and exercise handles most cases. This issue will be the #1 reason for massive increases in national healthcare costs.
Sure that works when a person is young or a little "overweight." But it's not a sustainable way to live. By cutting carbs a person regains blood sugar control and cravings for more and more carbs disappear. Saturated fat combined with some protein and non-starchy veg's – it's a diet that nourishes the body, controls hunger, heals, and brings a body down to a healthy weight. LCHF (Low Carb High Fat)
Remember in America pizza is a vegetable!
I remember when Reagan declared ketchup a vegetable for school lunches.
This really is a crying shame!
You would think that at some point, one would take a look in the mirror and say "Damn, I'm getting fat... I need to really cut back on how much I'm eating".
To all the obese moms I saw at the ballpark this weekend – you lose the right to get mad at your husbands who check out the hottie that walks by whose whole little body is as wide as one of your ass cheeks. You can control your weight, you know...
Nope, those husbands are jerks.
Looking at a majority of these comments. I am horrified at how stereotypical, egocentric, and plain out nasty most of you are in the comments towards anyone who is not the ideal weight!! I am not in the ideal weight zone about 30 lbs off. I'm not of proud of it, and have been fighting it since childhood, as I have always had to do. I don't eat junk food every time I sit down!!! I work out 3 – 4 hours a week on top of doing all the household maintenance, have a job as a fitness instructor, ski, swim, walk, hike, use a stationary bike when it's too hot out, pushups and sit ups, or other calesthetics! DON'T TELL ME I'M LAZY! Just because I don't have a size 8 or less, DOES NOT MEAN I AM LAZY! I spend most of my day on my feet being active. I drink water, juice low in sugar and calories, use sodas very rarely, don't drink all that much, eat salads that I make, cook most dinners (if my spouse isn't cooking), and make sure I buy LOTS of fruits and veggies for snacking on! I'm not a food addict. And quite honestly I go shop at my local farmer right up the road, and yes I walk there with my daughter to buy my groceries! When at the grocery store I spend MOST of my time right in the produce aisle (like you are supposed to). I park as far away as possible to increase the steps I take. Can't tell you HOW many times I see you skinny minnies park at the closest spot available just because it's more convenient for you. And yes I know you do that! And yes I see many other obese people do the same.
There is a BIG FAT difference between "not the ideal weight" and being obese. Go to Wal-Mart and try to count the people who are not morbidly obese. America has become a land of slovenly fatties.
It's just as easy to get fat as it is to live a healthy life style, the problem is a lot of parents just suck at raising their kids.
They buy them junk food, give them unhealthy portioned meals, and allow them to spend their entire day inside playing video games that their demographic shouldn't even be playing.
not to mention most kids would rather crack open a soda than drink a tall glass of water
I've seen parents let their kids chug down 3 – 4 cans a coke A DAY
Don't blame the fat people. Blame the government that told us all to eat a reduced fat, high carb diet for 40+ years. Those who aren't fat despite that advice are lucky enough to have the right genes. Shame on you for ridiculing, blaming and heaping calumny on people who can't help the way they are. That would be like a naturally good looking person blaming someone not blessed with such good looks for being ugly or a tall person blaming a short person for his fate. C'mon people.
Why wouldn't those people then look in the mirror and say "damn this isn't working? Let me do some research on my own to see what maybe I really should be eating." The overweight are not innocent victims totally blameless for their own weight.
I Do My Best You Should Too – sure every individual is responsible for themselves. But it's a HUGE problem that us Americans are constantly being indoctrinated with the "hearthealthywholegrains" and low fat dogma. It's wrong and it's a cyclical problem. One tries to lose weight following the advice and it doesn't work. I gave up many times after "being good" and hungry for weeks, only to see the weight come back. I only had about 30 extra pounds and I couldn't make it to the finish line, none the less maintain it. Self-control is only possible when the food you consume is NOT jacking with your blood sugar and leaving your body undernourished. And I'm not talking about processed foods, I'm referring to the whole-grain breads, organic granola, skim milk, non-fat yogurt, lean meats etc. As long as our nanny government tells us to eat the wrong foods, we're doomed to these statistics.
I wonder what Al Bundy would say about this.
Get rid of processed foods, MAKE your kids get off the XBOX, away from the T.V., and go outside to play. People, quit being LAZY, and actually cook your meals instead of going out for all of them, and, at a minimum, go for a walk every day!
USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA!
Everyday eat soup and salad (1 serving fatty) for lunch and dinner. In the morning have 1 hard boiled egg and a banana. When you feel like stuffing..drink a glass of water. Walk around your apartment complex for thirty minutes everyday. Do this for one year. repeat!!!
Most of the problems of the earth are traceable to women. Most? Maybe all.
Ha – actually since all of our eggs are there at our own birth, it is physically impossible for any of our actions in life to affect the dna of our offspring. Men, however....
I am from Eastern Europe and I remember my shock when I first saw and American couple at a diner. They ordered enormous amount of main courses, mainly very fatty meals. I was looking astonished and thought, how come they can finish all this??? But the grand finale was most impressive – they ordered ice creams with whipped cream, chocolate and syrup toppings and asked the waiter to DOUBLE their portions size (the original portions were huge already, but they considered them small)! The food was simply mounting on their table, and it would be enough to feed 5 persons.
I always read about Eastern Europeans tying up their daughters in basements for many decades and do bad things to them.
Our government directly subsidizes the agro-industrial complex: this is the kind of farming that produces tons of corn, which makes high fructose corn syrup, which saturates the market with very cheap foods with too many calories. High fructose corn syrup isn't the only problem, but it is symbolic of the problem. The vast majority of cheap foods available for people (mostly poor people by default) are made with government subsidies. These are the foods that are THE root cause of the dramatic rise in childhood morbid obesity. In this sense, our government (through taxpayers like you and me) is subsidizing our obesity epidemic – we double down, paying for people to eat the foods that make them obese, then for the medical costs to treat the diabetes, heart disease, strokes, MIs, lost economic productivity that inevitably result from a disease as devastating as obesity.
During my first year of medical residency a mother came in with her four year old who weighed about eighty pounds and couldn't walk because he was too fat. I asked why she thought he couldn't walk and she said, "Oh, well his feet are too small to walk very good"...Unfortunately many people out there aren't educated enough to know the difference between good and bad foods, and even if they did they wouldn't have enough money to buy healthy, nutritious sustenance.
Instead of subsidizing the agro-industrial complex, we need to turn our focus to the small farmer and subsidize local agriculture. We need to tax foods that make people obese and chronically ill for the rest of their lives and use that money to educate the masses who don't know any better. I don't know about you, but I would rather my tax dollars not be used to feed people poison and then pay for the antidote as well.
I'm on a new diet that's working out really well – never put anything in your mouth that you couldn't fit through the opposite end.
Americans are fat because of our food industries and their lobbyist. It is as simple as that. Giant food conglomerates are pushing unhealthy processed food to our masses and we eat them because they are cheap and taste ok while they rake in insane profits. On the downside they are affecting our health! Take away all processed food. Take away soda and high fructose corn syrup and America will go back to what we were before the 1970's and that is normal looking human being that is height weigh proportional.
It's going to take until 2030? Based on what I saw at the mall this weekend, we're on track for 2013!!
Why should I care how many fat people there are? There fattness isn't my problem. It would only be "my" problem if this country has SOCIALIZED mediice such as Obamacare, then taxes would be forced to go up on everyone even more to cover for that fat people HOWEVER Obamacare is illegal and is going to be turned down by the supreme court so in the end, it isn't my problem, it is there problem and their medical bills.
lol, do you have health insurance?
If Obamacare is repelled, then you will pay for the healthcare of uninsured people who go to the ER and do not pay for it. This will cost you a lot more and will delay you if you really need urgent care. Because when someone gets ER treatment, it is more costly than a regular Doc visit. The hospital will get the money somewhere... Or are you suggesting hospitals start denying ER treatment to people who choose to (or are denied) health insurance?
Americans don't want to excerise, plain and simple. America has too busy of a schedule to even think about that. Most work several hours a day, have kids to deal with etc. and are just way too tired when they get home. Most will start a New Year's Resolution and say they're going to excerise and may start out doing it but it never lasts. They may lose weight but it always comes back when they stop so why even bother. Americans want something quick and easy like taking a pill and they'll pay top dollar for it.
They want something to pop in the microwave. That something always has soy beans in it. Soy beans were used to fatten pigs fifty years ago. Now they are used as a cheap way to fatten people.
Avoid any product with soy on the label and I guarantee the pounds will disappear.

The Bible is not more true then any great piece of fiction. I am proud to be an athiest! God is a creation of humans who fear death. No rational 21st century being would believe in a myth created by people who bathed once a month and believed the Erth was flat and the center of the universe. Why didn't God straighten them out with facts? Where is the mention of evolution in the Bible or the idea that the universe is much older then 6,000 years. It is scary people like you use fear to bring people in a false faith! Atheisim, Understanding, kindness, and education FOREVER!!
The stuff cited just goes to show how much it costs to have more fat people around. It's pathetic that things have gotten this bad. There were times where I was certainly out of shape and semi-overweight (mainly during college) but I'd never let myself end up as obese. And when I ended up somewhat oveweight, I started shedding those extra pounds by doing easy stuff like doing more walking to class rather than bus-riding. Seriously, you don't have to work out 5-6 days a week to avoid being obese (although doing so will make you look super good and let you eat a lot more, if you really enjoy food that much). Just watch calories and try and get out and move around a little.
Don't you love when people make excuses. People need to take responsibility. I stopped feeling bad for obese people a long time ago.
"because 50 years ago, it was really, really hard to weigh that much"
Fifty years ago they did not put soy beans and high fructose corn syrup in everything.
42%? That's weaksauce America!!!! I want to see at least 70% by 2030!
Avoid products with soy and eat as much as you want. the pounds will go away. Along with inflammation for about a third of the people.
Of course you will have to learn how to cook.
I have been obese for most of my life and I agree it is unhealthy and that others should not have to pay for my choices. I also agree that I should not have to pay for other peoples poor choices such as unprotected sex with strangers, going to smoke filled bars/casinos, not getting enough sleep, getting hurt while playing sports, taking illicit drugs etc. The only difference between my issue and those I just listed is that you can see that I am obese. Unless someone is stupid enough to post their personal life on social media the things I listed are not visible but they are no less damaging to your health. Im over 50 and my blood pressure, blood sugar, chloresterol, etc have always been well within accepted limits. My arteries show no sign of blockage. My doctor is amazed. I have lived a clean life without drugs, alcohol etc and always get enough sleep. I eat a lot of food but not a lot of junk food. Physically I have found that unless an activity is highly aerobic I can usually outlast most of my skinny peers when it comes to doing work. When it comes to doing heavy work such as lifting for long periods of time I usually put them to shame. I know quite a few party animals and athletes who are skinny and have a wide array of cardiac and health problems including joint damage from all the sports. If you could not see me or measure my weight or body fat percentage you could not distinguish me from a normal weight individual given the normal health tests. You need to look at health not just weight before passing judgement. Just because you don't like the way a person looks does not give you the right to discriminate.
So true. And a lot of skinnies are very unhealthy on the inside.
Fat is beautiful! Ha! Ok, so a fat horse is beautifulI too I suppose? Wouldn't they lock you up for mistreating the animal? There are 3 nice and slim women at work... I see them eat sometimes: salad, fish, berries, water, etc. Then I notice what the obese ones eat: lasagna, cakes, pizza, pops, meat, gravy, bonbons in a jar by their desk etc. – I'm just not sexually attracted to a hamburger (shaped woman) and I make no apologies for it. I eat well and have an ideal weight but when I eat a pizza I'll gain 2-3 pounds for a few days then lose it as I revert to eating well. That says something.
I moved to the US from Sweden and gained 50 pounds in 5 years :/
It's all the junk food and often lack of exercise
I'm from Norway and gained 60 pounds the last 4-5 years when I moved to America as well
Many obese people are those who collect government assistance. If your ever in line at a grocery store, those of us who work have to get store brands and cheaper products while you see those who are food stamps get all the fattening products. This is a fact, I know some people who work at grocery stores and I've been behind some checking out. Take away their benefits and make them work, then you can see a difference. Too much government doesn't work...
... and much of the bad food is cheaper, which doesn't help. I buy 5 small organics raspberry containers at a cost of $25, yet that amount can buy much more at the damn MacDo. People just let themselves go... I'm also ticked off that I have to pay the same airline ticket cost as someone twice my weight. Thanks a lot obese people
Obesity? It's just Obama fattening people up for the fall kill. Keep 'em fat and happy!
Let's not forget Bush... This started way before Obama.
