New ED drug may work in 15 minutesLook out Viagra - there's a new erectile dysfunction drug in town. It's called Stendra (aka Avanafil) and it's newly approved by the Food and Drug Administration, making it the first ED drug to come out in almost 10 years. Although Stendra has not been tested against what is known as the "Little Blue Pill," drug makers say that - for some men - it may work faster. "If things are heated up, theoretically you can get improved function earlier, within 15 minutes, with this drug," said Dr. Irwin Goldstein, director of sexual medicine at Alvarado Hospital in San Diego, and co-author of a recent study about Stendra in the Journal of Sexual Medicine. "You can argue this is the first potential on-demand drug." Goldstein, who has authored more than 300 studies in the field of sexual dysfunction, said that early data suggests Stendra may perform faster than other ED drugs, but that must be proven in a larger, real-world population. Goldstein and his team studied 1,267 men who took a 50, 100 or 200 milligram dose of Stendra - or placebo - about 30 minutes before engaging in sexual activity. The men filled out questionnaires indicating, for example, how long it took before they engaged in sexual intercourse or became aroused. "For some men it works in 15 minutes, for some men it took longer," said Goldstein. To be clear, no one is suggesting that men should drop Viagra - or any other of the popular ED drugs– for Stendra. "There is no drug that is the best," said Dr. Laurence Levine, a professor in the department of Urology at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, who was not a part of the Stendra study. "Each patient's own chemistry may make one drug better than another. There are certain advantages and disadvantages to all of these drugs." Stendra is another option in a field of effective and safe drugs, said Levine. A small minority of patients experienced side effects after taking Stendra, according to the study, including headaches, flushing, nasal congestion and back pain. And overall, patients taking any ED drug - all of which work similarly - should be aware of rare side effects like sudden loss of vision or hearing, according to the FDA. |

Help! I've fallen and I can't get it up!
Oral sex is more fun than a pill and works just as well.
Not sure why you would need a pill. Blondes are the best cure and they are natural. Like seriously I don't understand this. Like I would never take a pill to get it up. Oral sex is amazing and a little horsing around works as well. If the girl can't get it up then that is a clear sign from God that you need to find someone else to have sex with. I am certain these medicines are really bad for you and they don't do anything a nice blond can't. Am I right or am i right???
Oh Lord!! Just what we needed......another ED drug commercial on the evening news!!
For real! If i see another Boomer in yet another Ed commercial im going to vomit. Another that is getting out of hand is the commercials for mesothelioma.
Coincidentally, that's about as long as it takes a roofie to kick in as well...
All these ED drugs out there to help men have sex and no one is trying to ban them on religious grounds. I'm left wondering who they will be having sex with? Women on birth control? To follow a religious argument one more step, ED is God's way of telling you you shouldn't be having sex.
I agree. The law shouldn't allow the sale of these prescriptions unless the man can prove his seed goes nowhere except into a fertile female. We must follow the rules of God.
You appear to be a complete moron. You realize that people who have had intestinal surgery also can get ED? I was 22 and had emergency surgery for a burst colon and Ive had ED since that age. Now move along ignorant one.
Tom,
That's not what I was raised to believe and my father was a preacher. God giving someone erectile dysfunction wouldn't be him "telling you" anything, it would him forcing his will upon you. This conflicts with the very fundamental belief that he gave us free will and I can't imagine why he would not want someone to make love to his wife or to try and have a child.
If God didn't want people having sex so much then he shouldn't have hard-wired our brains to think about it every 6 seconds. Why, to do that and then consider it sinful to act upon it would be perverse. You don't think God is perverse, do you?
Condoms and other forms of birth control should also be agin to law. In fact we should base all laws in this countey on what our religious leaders tell us.
As a citizen everyone should have access to BC. That doesn't mean its provided free of charge. Its up to the individual to decide, based on their personal morals, values and beliefs, if they want to use it. Politicians in DC have no place in our bedrooms and that includes Dems and Repub.
TonyB sed: "You don't think God is perverse, do you?"
Oh, don't get me started....
On topic, I wonder how much PHARMA will over-charge for THIS little wonder? $15? $20?
Tom S. another individual who has decided to speak for God. If we carry his position further, if you lose a leg for any reason that is God's way of telling you not to run or walk, I could go on with other equally ridiculous examples. Tom wake up and smell the coffee. Most ED is caused by a lack of blood flow, All ED pills dilate the blood vessels to permit more blood flow. Your eating and drinking habits when you are young and middle aged are what cause the plugging of your arteries (and genetics) not God.
Thank goodness there will be a whole new onslaught of commercials for me to have to sit through while watching golf and/or football now. I'll be able to watch my sports programs in comfortable peace, knowing that Big Pharma's scientist are working hard to keep old men hard quicker and for longer. How about we pull these "scientists" off of ED control and onto something a little more important. Like, oh I don't know, let's say CANCER!
Did these scientist ever think that these guys may have a high cholesterol problem? High cholesterol and a fatty diet equals clogged arteries and capilaries!

You've GOT to see him in Five Easy Pieces', which may be his best perfromance ever. Also, King of the Marvin Gardens' and the one that made him the star that he is today Easy Rider'. He is real goofy in the chsesy Roger Corman cult film Little Shop of Horrors' where Jack plays a masochistic dental patient and has a full head of hair!
So when is some religious "expert" going to point out that taking an ED drug is against the laws of nature–maybe it's God's way of saying enough is enough?
Wish they would spend more money on childhood diseases instead of medication for a bunch of d*cks.
Funny cause these drugs help people have kids.
Why don't you send in all the money you were wasting on makeup and new outfits to charity, or do you think that money spent on you is not a waste? Typical female.
To tron, attacking women with an inantile screen name. Id iot.
The question becomes whether the pharmacies who are opposed to offering birth control will offer this. It seems hypocritical to to deny birth control to women yet offer medicines allowing men to keep on keeping on.
The saddest part is the money and effort invested in this medicine and others like it when we are on the cusp of an antibiotic crisis. Surely there are far better projects to work on!
Great, just what we need – more senile old-money Republicans being able to breed long after nature intended.
Seems there are more democrats cheating than republicans. JFK, Clinton, Edwards, the list goes on and on
I'm sorry, you are obviously the expert in which males have erectile dysfunction. I admit my lack of knowledge/interest in the subject.
@mac
Yeah, one every 20 or 30 years. Funny you had to go back to JFK to make your point.
I remember seeing a special on 20/20 or one of the new programs about a drug developed by a researcher at the Univ of Ariz for tanning that had two additional side effects, 12 hour e r e c t i o n and vastly improved memory recall. Last I read about it was it was being turned over to two drug companies so they could split out the 'effects' and sell three different pills. The hilarious part was the people undergoing the testing refused to give back any of the extras they had once the testing was completed not to mention vanishing test supplies so I guess it worked. That was three years ago.
Men place so much empasis on sex....go watch football!God made a mistake when he made men so he said I can do better and made woman!!!!!! case closed....
I know a man is his 60s who had prostate cancer and had to have his prostate removed. He now takes ED drugs but sometimes they don't work as well as he would like them to. He said he would rather be dead that not able to have an erection. I don't get it.
...and you never will – Because you don't have a p enis.....
With all the deadly diseases out there, I'm glad to know that we have yet another ED drug available. Apparently, R&D $ is better spent on getting an erection than in curing cancer.
Take away birth control, women't clinics, aobrtion, but don't dare take anything away from men... Hypocrits!!
How can we buy these pills and where
I had a sudden hearing loss. She claimed to have said "no more, OMG, no more" at least 15 times. I only heard the "OMG" and "more" parts...
Not sure why you would need a pill. Blondes are the best cure and they are natural. Like seriously I don't understand this. Like I would never take a pill to get it up. If you don't actually need a pill, why waste the money? Otherwise, if you have ED due to something like prostate cancer surgery and a pill works, go for it. It's better than pumps, implants, etc. Using pills for a quick enhancement with no medical necessity is expensive and risky.Read the fine print in the patient information brochures; there are some serious warnings.
Our country has a massive drug problem, let's add more...
What I find sad about this story is that this drug probably has 10 million dollars worth of research behind it. We already have plenty of medication that deals with this. Genie was out of the bottle when Viagra came. Do we need more research on e.d.? Ate we even trying to cure cancer or diabetes anymore? They don't make money on the cure, they make it on the comeback.
A handful comparatively have died of aids vs cancer diabetes etc and they get more tax dollars for research than heard diseast cancer combined. If your looking for who is stealing the money for research and people are dying the look to the .....lgbt lobby.
@Hikerstud. Citation, please. I don't believe that for a minute.
Forget birth control being offered for free from the government as an option. Birth control should be mandatory for everyone until they get a license to have kids. Getting that license should be harder than getting a pilot's license. If you can't pay to take the parenting courses, you can't afford kids. Period. Overpopulation would be over overnight.
Illegal immigraton is allowed as we are underpopulated zero growth in USA and Europe who lets in African muslims. Birth control and abortion have eliminated population problems with industrialized countries. Third world countries have the labor. China, India, etc.
Get em up, get em up, get em up, Rawhide
Does anyone worry about the side effects ? I would be more concerned with that and you think the R&D guys would work harder to eliminate those problems and perfect it.
Last thing a guy would want is to lose his eyesight or hearing and also having headaches... duh !
It is always a balancing act. It is in many cases impossible to separate the side effects from the efficacy in a small molecule.
Sex isn't everything. The way it's plastered all over the media anymore these days. It's constantly being thrown in our faces. If your married you learn to accept each other the way you are. Especially when your partner is battling a life threatening disease. It's no wonder why there are so many rapes going on now. They ought to use the money and try to develop cures for life threatening diseases instead wasting it on something like this. After all life does go on without sex.
I do not look forward to the day that life goes on without sex. I am dieting always. They made tobacco into the worst crime of all time. I gave up drinking totally cuz it was too hard to control. TV is ruined as it is all about LGBT parades / heroes. At least my spiritual life is good but my body is starving.
Hikerstud's brain is starving too.
Maybe the back pain is a side effect of having sex.
Its a scientific fact that for most men, as they get older, the women they have sex with become less and less attractive. Put a 50 year old woman who is 40 pounds overweight in front of a 30 year old guy, and he won't get an erection either. So ladies, be grateful for these pills, thanks to them you don't have to face reality.
After I had my prostate cancer surgery, the doctor apologized for it, to which I replied: "That's OK, doctor! No hard feelings!" OK, that's an old joke, but I do wish they'd invent a pill for us guys who had to have prostate cancer surgery.
from this writh up i know this will not have efect on haert and kidny if no please tell if this drug is in africa [nigeria]please send me the adrress
Premature ejaculation (PE; also known as rapid ejaculation) is the most common type of sexual dysfunction in men younger than 40 years. Most professionals who treat premature ejaculation define this condition as the occurrence of ejaculation prior to the wishes of both sexual partners. This broad definition thus avoids specifying a precise duration for sexual relations and reaching a climax, which is variable and depends on many factors specific to the individuals engaging in intimate relations. An occasional instance of premature ejaculation might not be cause for concern, but, if the problem occurs with more than 50% of attempted sexual relations, a dysfunctional pattern usually exists for which treatment may be appropriate.
