'Biggest Loser' host: What my husband taught meAlison Sweeney is what we jealously refer to as mildly successful. She is the host of "The Biggest Loser," an actress on "Days of Our Lives," mother to two young children, and - on top of everything else - is training for the L.A. Marathon. She's become an expert on nutrition and fitness, thanks to trainers and staff on the "Biggest Loser" set, and her book, "The Mommy Diet," is about to publish in paperback. But that doesn't mean the author/actress isn't still learning. "My husband, Dave, taught me not to tie my self-worth to what I eat," Sweeney tells Fitness magazine this month. "Women attach all these emotions to a plate of food. Men don’t. Whether or not you eat too much sugar has nothing to do with what type of person you are." "Paying attention to the way my clothes fit, my ability to compete in a class or whether I’m out of breath getting up a hill I ran easily last week - those all feel like healthier ways for me to stay in check," she says. The actress also credits "Biggest Loser" trainers Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper in her weight loss journey. "When Jillian trained me, she was merciless, but she never failed to compliment me. As women, we tend to downplay our achievements, but Jillian taught me to celebrate them." Harper helped push her body's limit. His intense circuit, she tells Fitness, has her running at a 10 incline at 10 miles per hour. It's workouts like these that keep the actress fearless in front of the cameras, even when there's an upcoming shower scene. "I get a case of nerves. But I feel really proud of how hard I’ve worked to look good and be fit and athletic." For Sweeney's at-home couch workout, check out Fitness.com. |

"She's become an expert on nutrition and fitness"
Yet she still thinks fat loss is governed by the debunked "Calories in vs. Calories out" mantra and recommends Subway sandwiches and chewing gum for weight loss... give me a break. This is just another commercial for The Biggest Loser.
I'm going to guess that she is in better shape than Fred.
Lol...yeah...debunked? Lets go ahead and debunk gravity and electromagnetism as well...
Exactly. Every time I see them push Subway, I think, "and just how long are their carb overloaded, low fat diets going to sustain them?" The "healthy eating" biggest loser pushes is based on very outdated information. I feel bad for these contestants and for viewers that buy into the same old high carb/low fat diet fad. You're never going to be healthy doing that, it's a temporary (very temporary for most) fix that will trash your health in the long run.
I agree this is just an ad for the Biggest Loser.
please show me how (and where) the calories in -Vs. calories out has been debunked
Where in this article did you read about Subway and chewing gum!
They promote both of these on the show.
I love her, think she's a great hostess for the show, which i also love...... it's one of the only spots on TV where people actually accomplish something that is important..... I congratulate Allison on her success and achievements (sp?)... and as for me, i still believe "calories in, calories out"- fred should test it out for himself... if you don't put it in your mouth, it CAN'T wind up on your BUTT!
Finding samples in the real world for real families is quite easy using "Get Official Samples" site, Remember, it’s not how much you save, but how little you spend.
Good Luck in LA for the marathon.
How long can you do 10% incline at 10 miles per hour? That is faster than the winning pace at the Mount Washington Road Race a 7.6 mile run at 11.5% average grade where very few people have ever broken an hour. Come run Mt Washington in June, it is a blast.
My wife and I both love the Biggest Loser, it is a real reality show.
You don't become a nutrition expert by hanging around the set of the Biggest Loser. You may become more competent in making appropriate nutrition choices for yourself, but you do not become an expert with the skills necessary to help other people who may have chronic and serious health problems.
WHY WHY WHY did you sleep with EJ?
There is nothing wrong with being a size 12, most women could never be a size 2.
good old fashioned eat less drink water not sodas all the time and exercise has kept me at size 8 for 12 yrs.and that was after finding myself in a size 20 ughhhhhh!!!!!
