Diana swim tracker: Watch Nyad's progress

Update: Diana Nyad ended her swim about 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, suffering from shoulder pain and nausea.  She is on a boat headed for Key West, Florida. Check back with CNN.com for updates.

Distance swimmer Diana Nyad is attempting a 103-mile swim from Cuba to Key West. She entered the water Sunday around 7:45 p.m. ET, from Havana's Hemingway Marina. On Monday afternoon  she more than 20 miles off Cuba and struggling with shoulder pain and asthma but continuing to swim strongly, CNN's Matt Sloane reported.

Follow Matt Sloane on Twitter – live from Nyad's boat

Watch: Nyad 'doing great' on swim

CNN is the only network accompanying Nyad on her swim, which could take 60 hours or longer.  Producer Matt Sloane is leading a CNN team traveling on  one of Nyad's chase boats. They are carrying a SPOT GPS tracker, which transmits the group's position via satellite.

Sloane will be Tweeting throughout the swim, and he'll appear live on CNN from time to time to update viewers on the 61-year-old swimmer's progress. Nyad's team also will be Tweeting and blogging.

Check back to watch her progress. And coming  on CNN,  Dr. Sanjay Gupta takes a  look at "Diana Nyad: Xtreme Dream." Saturday, September 17, 8 p.m. ET.

Prayers for the great Ms. Nyad. The nightime swimming is extermly dangerous in these waters. This is a human endevor the likes of climing Mt. Everest but with no Shirpas assisting.

Hey Brian Earley, aren't Sherpas human too? Anyway, Diana is awesome and she is inspirational for everyone regardless of gender or age. I do some distance swimming, and I love to take on a challenge but this 103-mile swim is extreme! Wish I could have gone with her!

i'm a photographer in key west and had the pleasure of meating diana last week. she's a rock star. i enjoyed the piece matt sloane wrote for cnn, but there was a pretty big mistake in his story. the following passage is dead wrong..."She's faced political as well as physical challenges. Nyad is determined to swim from Cuba - a Communist country that doesn't allow Americans to visit - to Florida." Cuba most certainly allows Americans to visit, it is OUR government that does not allow ordinary Americans to visit. I'm looking forward to photographing diana when she arrives in key west!

Exactly! I happened to come upon Diana's story as I was researching Cuba – having recently come back from a study abroad. The most life-changing trip I have ever taken. I hope Diana, as well as the rest of us, can do our small part to get rid of the antiquated politics between the US and Cuba! GO DIANA!!

This is a great story. The lack of live video coverage is very disappointing. Kudos to CNN for at least having this, but there should be more – there should be video coverage on every channel. I've spent all morning looking for coverage and I bet a lot of others have, too. How many times do I have to hear that stocks fell? I get that already. Show us a 61 year old woman swimming from Cuba to Florida!

I agree with you completely, Basia. It is good to have the map which shows progress. CNN said they would be the only news team to cover this event live, but until we see the video coverage, I don't understand what they mean. Lots of other teams are covering the story, CNN promised video. I am so excited about this, I can't get enough. How can you beat this story for suspense? It's like the Wimbledon final, the superbowl, and the World Series all in one. Go Diana.

I don't know what the motivation is for us "older" folks that acquire this sudden urge to become distance ocean swimmers? Maybe it's because it makes us feel so good physically? Maybe it's being out there all alone and experiencing the joys of wild swimming? This is a great story. My single largest concern is her burning....the sun will cook your back during long ocean swims. Possibly there is a plan......a suit change or addition during the heat of the day?

I'm sure there are many of us nowhere near her age who've told ourselves it's "too late" to take a new path, start over, or dream big. Diana just proved how ridiculous that thought is and we thank her for that.

This an incredibly inspiring story of perseverance and courage. I woke up last night at 4AM just to try and see where she was on her journey ... glad to see that little red dot progressing along, but PLEASE, PLEASE CNN – WHERE ARE THE PICTURES? Why are there live webcams of eagles' nests 24/7 on youtube, but no pictures of Diana's historic swim? This world needs to see her shining example of spirit and courage.

Hope she makes it, but am old enough to remember that all of her previous attempts of this kind ended in lots of publicity for her and very few successful finishes. On the other hand, anyone who swims with sharks for five minutes is pretty brave.
